DCSA Winter Concert

You are invited to attend the Door County String Academy's Winter Concert on Thursday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m. The concert will take place at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Michigan St. All members of the Door County String Academy will be performing at this event! Hear some traditional classical pieces as well as holiday favorites! Also, stay for a holiday bake sale after the concert and enjoy some delicious homemade holiday cookies.

November 21st and November 22nd: two selected group of students will be performing Christmas Carols at Third Avenue Playhouse prior to a TAP Show (Primavera Strings)
Sat. 11/21 at 7:30 and Sun. 11/22 at 2:00

December 6th Christmas Caroling at the Dorchester 11:00-noon

Sunday, January 17th: Fundraising Recital with Mary (flute) and David Bell (clarinet) at 2:30 p.m.

DCSA Students perform at TAP

Two groups of Door County String Academy Students will be performing Christmas Carols at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay. The most advanced students will be performing on Saturday night, the 7:30 p.m. performance and the Level 2 students will perform at the 2:00 p.m. performance. We are pre-concert music to The Primavera Strings. Come enjoy some holiday classics this weekend at Third Avenue Playhouse!

The Door County String Academy welcomes 15 new students for the 2009-10 school year. These students are showing a great deal of talent and I look forward to working with them throughout this coming year! Thanks for joining!

Director Lori Meyer in Recital

Director Lori Meyer will perform in a classical music recital on Sunday, August 30th at 2:30 p.m. The recital will be held at the United Methodist Church on Michigan Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Also joining Director Meyer are two other Door County Musicians: Lauren Gilmore (soprano and choir teacher at Gibraltar) and David Beck (pianist/organist at Hope Church). Concert program will be announced at the event and brief reception will follow. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Door County String Academy.

Special Event for DCSA Level 3

Hello everyone in the Level 3 Orchestra!

I am writing to you today to invite you to a special event for just Level 3 Students on Sunday, August 23rd, 3:30-5:00 p.m., at Sawyer School (our new lesson/rehearsal location). At this event, you will be meeting the new conductor of the Level 3 Orchestra, finding out more about the rehearsal schedule, and participating in a sight-reading session with new music. So be sure to bring your instruments! I can't tell you how excited I am about this opportunity for all of you! Please RSVP to this event prior to August 20th, so we know how many musicians we will have for the reading orchestra.

So far, the rehearsal schedule for the DCSA Level 3 Orchestra will be on Sundays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. at Sawyer Elementary School. These are the rehearsal dates set in preparation for the December Concert:

Sunday, August 23rd from 3:30-5:00 p.m. (Sight-reading Session)

-Sunday, September 20th from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

-Sunday, October 18th from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

-Sunday, November 22nd from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

-Sunday, December 13th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Dress Rehearsal
